Terms of Use

Plain-language terms for Fix My Speaker: how to play the cleaning tones safely, what results to expect, and where our responsibility ends.

Reviewed · Fix My Speaker team

These terms apply whenever you open a page or play a tone on Fix My Speaker. Using the site means you accept them; if they do not work for you, please stop using it. Our privacy policy sits alongside these terms and counts as part of them.

What we offer

A free collection of in-browser audio tools — water and dust cleaning tones, an adjustable tone generator and a stereo and frequency test — plus written guides on looking after phone speakers. We are not a repair business, and nothing here diagnoses or mends faulty hardware.

Protect your ears
Hold the device at arm's length or lay it on a table while a tone plays. Do not run the cleaning tones through headphones or earbuds that are in your ears, begin the tone generator and speaker test quietly, and stop straight away if a speaker distorts heavily.

Results vary

Low tones are good at shifting droplets and loose particles from a speaker grille, but they will not succeed on every device. They cannot draw moisture out of a phone's interior and cannot restore a speaker that is physically damaged. Our guides are general advice and do not override your manufacturer's instructions. After a full submersion, contact with salt water or sugary drinks, or sound that stays wrong once the device is dry, get help from the manufacturer or a qualified technician.

Liquid damage, and how a device was dried, can matter for warranty claims. Your manufacturer's warranty terms and care instructions come first.

Fair use

Use the tools on speakers you own or have permission to use, for any lawful personal reason.

Please do not use them to:

  • Annoy, frighten or hurt people or animals with sound.
  • Deliberately harm someone else's equipment.
  • Attack, overload or interfere with the website or its hosting.
  • Republish the site as if it were your own work.
  • Break any law that applies where you live.

Brand names

We name devices such as iPhone, Galaxy and Pixel only so readers know which guidance applies to them. Those names belong to their owners, and none of those companies has sponsored, approved or partnered with Fix My Speaker.

Uptime and changes to the tools

The tools cost nothing to use and come with no promise of constant availability. We can alter, pause or retire any feature without notice. Browser updates may also change how sound behaves on a given phone or computer.

No promises about the tools

We offer the site and every tool on it in their current state, without any guarantee — stated or implied — that they will be suitable for your purpose, error-free, or free of third-party rights issues.

Limits on our responsibility

As far as the law allows, we accept no responsibility for indirect or consequential losses connected with using the site, including harm to devices, lost data or lost income. Where the law does not permit a limit like this, it does not apply to you.

Revisions

We may revise these terms from time to time and will update the date shown at the top when we do. If you keep using the site after a revision, the new version applies.
